Chronos Sustainability welcomes climate policy specialist, Ella Harvey, as policy research manager

MEDIA RELEASE

CHRONOS SUSTAINABILITY WELCOMES CLIMATE POLICY SPECIALIST, ELLA HARVEY, AS POLICY RESEARCH MANAGER

London, 8 July 2021, Chronos Sustainability (“Chronos”), the specialist sustainability advisory firm, has hired environmental policy expert, Ella Harvey as manager, policy research. Her role will focus on the design and delivery of policy and environmental research, supporting the continued growth of Chronos’ climate change and responsible investment programmes.

Ella is an accomplished research analyst specialising in climate change, aquatic toxicology, food systems, and corporate carbon performance. She joins Chronos from the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment where, as research analyst, she played a central role in developing the scoring methodology and supporting company engagement for the Climate Action 100 + Net Zero Company Benchmark.

Ella has a strong academic background, having recently completed her MSc in Environmental Policy and Regulation at the London School of Economics, following the completion of an MSc in Integrative Biology from the University of Guelph and a BSc in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Toronto.

Dr Rory Sullivan, CEO, Chronos Sustainability, said: “The race to net zero is gaining pace, driven by investors, by rapid changes in public policy and by societal and consumer expectations. Few industries are unaffected and huge numbers of corporations toned to take action. Research rigour and deep knowledge have never been more important in ensuring that companies respond effectively to these pressures. Ella’s experience in corporate carbon performance analysis, in policy research and in corporate strategy further strengthen our capabilities in these areas. I am delighted to welcome her to the team.”

Nicky Amos, managing director, Chronos Sustainability added: “In an ever-more challenging sustainability universe, we believe that detailed policy research is critical to realising genuine, transformative and systemic change. Not only has Ella built a deep understanding of environmental and global responsible investment frameworks, but her expertise in food systems and ocean sustainability will also strengthen our global sustainability change programmes.”

Ella joins Chronos in a newly created role. Her appointment follows the announcement of three new appointments in June this year when Dr Jon Day was appointed to the dual role of chief operating officer and head of food programmes, Basia Romanowicz was named senior programme manager for the Business Benchmark on Farm Animal Welfare (BBFAW) and Lyndsey Hurley was confirmed as company secretary, and director, corporate governance and ethics.
