MEDIA RELEASE

PINS BROWN JOINS CHRONOS SUSTAINABILTY’S GLOBAL ADVISORY NETWORK TO SUPPORT HUMAN RIGHTS PROGRAMMES

London, 12 October 2023, Chronos Sustainability (“Chronos”), the award-winning global sustainability advisory firm, has expanded its network of specialist consultants with the addition of leading human rights expert, Pins Brown.  As a specialist adviser on human rights Pins will support Chronos and its clients in their focus to protect, respect and remedy human rights issues in business operations.

Pins is a global authority on human rights with an extensive background in corporate responsibility and supply chain ethics.  During her 25-year career she has held a variety of roles across international geographies and sectors with an enduring focus on improving labour conditions in business operations and supply chains. Most recently, Pins was Director of Human rights at the world’s largest B-Corp, cosmetics giant Natura &Co (owners of Avon, The Body Shop and Natura) where she spearheaded the firm’s human rights policy and strategy. In October 2023 she became Chair of the UK-based Food Network for Ethical Trade, a network of major food retailers and suppliers addressing social challenges in the food industry.

As an independent adviser to Chronos, Pins will provide technical support to Chronos’ human rights programmes, and bring a human rights lens to its wider work on sustainability issues including biodiversity and nature, climate change.

Nicky Amos, Managing Director, Chronos Sustainability, said: “Human rights is one of the most significant frontiers for a just and equitable world and one of the biggest preoccupations for us, and for our clients.  What we need are tangible insights and solutions that foster dialogue and encourage action on responsible corporate practices. Pins’ work has consistently pushed boundaries, challenged organisations and improved working conditions by integrating them into improved practices in global supply chains. I am thrilled to welcome her into our global network.”

Dr Rory Sullivan, CEO, Chronos Sustainability, added: “Many of our clients are responsible investors for whom human rights issues have become an increasingly critical area of focus in recent years. Understanding of the human rights responsibilities of investors has advanced, and the principle that investors have human rights responsibilities is now widely recognised and accepted. However, to effect a systems change, they need access to expertise and practical solutions to approach socially and financially material issues such as the accessibility and affordability of essential goods and services such as energy, food and water, conflict, the just transition and digital rights such as privacy and freedom of expression. There are few specialists who bring a similar strength of reputation, expertise and depth of knowledge as Pins and I am delighted to welcome her to our team.

Pins Brown, Human Rights Specialist, Chronos Sustainability, said: “To properly protect, respect and remedy human rights issues in business operations and in supply chains, we need changed systems, new thinking and intentional action. In working with Chronos, I hope to support organisations and systems change which will lead to better approaches to tackling fundamental issues such as respected human rights at work, improved animal welfare and better biodiversity which affect people and planet every day.”

Pins’ Brown is an independent human rights consultant who will work closely with Chronos and its clients as part of Chronos’ network of global sustainability experts. Chronos has also made a series of permanent, strategic appointments this Autumn, naming Laura Fox as manager, biodiversity and agriculture and Cora Buentjen, Aisling Eyers, Anna Hattam and Fatima Husain as research analysts.
