Born to Rewild: Supporting Knepp Young Guides
The Knepp Estate is a pioneering rewilding project of around 1,400 hectares of former arable and dairy farmland in South East England. Since the estate hosted the Chronos team for an away day in 2024 we have continued to support its work, which chimes with our mission to drive impact at scale, and our thematic work with companies, investors and civil society to halt and reverse nature loss.
The estate includes a beaver colony (pictured) – beavers are considered to be a vital nature-based solution to improving flood resilience as a warmer climate makes flooding more likely.
Young guides
To support Knepp in 2024/25 Chronos co-sponsored its Young Guides Scheme. This is a new initiative to train young people from the local area in nature recovery and to act as guides to visitors around the estate. Training includes an exploration of key concepts such as rewilding, grazing dynamics, ecological restoration, species reintroductions, and much more.
Some of the new young guides are featured on a video from Knepp here.
The Young Guides Scheme is a part of the Knepp Wildland Foundation’s Wild Futures programme which also offers children and young adults the chance to visit the Knepp estate through a range of bespoke safaris and workshops.
Our support for the Knepp Young Guides Scheme is part of the positive contribution that Chronos wants to make to supporting the next generation of sustainability professionals. This also includes our support the LSE Chronos Sustainability Prize at the LSE and the publication of our free-to-access Sustainable Finance Careers Guide.
