Building a Sustainable Financial System in Emerging Markets
"When the leading asset owners in emerging markets strengthen their commitments to sustainable investment, they can lead by example and have a catalytic effect on domestic capital markets and the investment system as a whole." (FIONA STEWART, The World Bank, June 2020).
On Wednesday 15 July, 1400BST/0900EDT, The World Bank, Principles for Responsible Investment and Chronos Sustainability Ltd hosted a discussion based on experiences of working with regulators, policymakers and institutional investors in emerging markets on the design and implementation of financial policy frameworks that align capital markets with sustainable growth to deliver net-zero real economies by 2050.
FIONA STEWART, Will Martindale and Dr. Rory Sullivan took examples from Colombia, Thailand and China to illustrate the case for, and practicalities of building a sustainable financial system.
