MEDIA RELEASE

CHRONOS SUSTAINABILITY WELCOMES EXPERTS IN AVIATION CLIMATE POLICY AND FOOD

London, 16 November 2021, Chronos Sustainability (“Chronos”), the award-winning global sustainability advisory firm, has added two new sustainability experts to its international team. Jessica Doten Axberg joins as Manager, Food Research while independent aviation and climate expert, Rhoda Byrne, has joined Chronos’ global consultancy network as Specialist, Aviation Climate Policy.

The roles reflect the ongoing demand for specialist research and tailored solutions across the sustainability spectrum, and in particular highlight the significance of Aviation and Climate Change, and Food and Agriculture as key challenges within the global sustainability change agenda.

Jessica is an agronomist with a primary focus on environmental sustainability, agricultural sustainability, and animal welfare. She has managed food, agriculture and animal welfare programmes for a range of NGOs, research institutions and UN organisations, working with a range of stakeholders along the food value chain including smallholder farmers, research institutes and government bodies. Based in Nairobi, Kenya, Jessica will support Chronos’ global agri-food and sustainability programmes.

Rhoda is an internationally recognised consultant in climate and sustainable finance, with a particular focus on climate policy in the context of aviation and aerospace. She has led or contributed to a range of high-profile programmes designed to accelerate investor engagement on climate change risks and opportunities including her role as technical adviser to the Transition Pathway Initiative (TPI) and as lead author on Climate Action 100+’s inaugural sector strategy on aviation. Based in London, as an independent associate, Rhoda will provide leadership and specialist consultancy on climate policy and aviation to Chronos’ climate benchmarking and investor engagement programmes.

Dr Rory Sullivan, CEO, Chronos Sustainability said: “COP26 has reaffirmed that some of the biggest and most necessary interventions needed to respond to climate change – to reduce emissions and respond to physical climate change – are inextricably linked to the decisions made by companies and by policy makers in the areas of agriculture, energy and transport. These are areas where our ability to engage with and support investors, governments, companies and civil society organisations can help to drive and to accelerate change at scale.  We are delighted that Rhoda and Jessica have joined our growing team at Chronos, further building our capacity and our expertise to respond to global challenges such and climate change and ecological sustainability.”

Nicky Amos, Managing Director, Chronos Sustainability added: “Adding distinct expertise to our team not only reflects the continuing rise in demand for our work in key areas of the sustainability spectrum, but also the momentum within the global change agenda. Our purpose as a business is to harness this momemtum through designing, leading or supporting the necessary interventions to deliver transformative, systemic change.”
